Carvers a cut above

Some of the finest examples of wood carving will be on display Nov. 22 at Bowen Park Complex as the Mid Island Carving Club hosts its 15th annual Wood Carving Show and Competition

Taking place from noon to 4:30 p.m., the show attracts artists from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland and is open to carvers of all skill levels. Admission for the public is $2.

Categories include birds, animals, fish, humans, landscapes, floral and woodburning.

Entries are judged on originality and design; skill and techniques; surface finish and final presentation. Registration takes place from 8:30-10 a.m. and judging from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
