Miss Nanaimo crowned

The voting is in and Nanaimo has chosen its new royalty to represent the city for 2009/10.
The 64th Miss Nanaimo Ambassador Program was held Sept. 19 in the Malaspina Theatre at Vancouver Island University with seven hopefuls entertaining an audience of more than 200.
In the end, judges chose Kendall Andjelkovic as the 2009 Miss Nanaimo Ambassador and Cher Rowe as the new vice-ambassador. Rowe was also chosen by the contestants as Miss Friendship.
Winners in other categories included:
u Personal growth award: Hannah Perry, Miss Nanaimo Yacht Charters.
u Nanaimo knowledge exam: Cher Rowe, Miss Curves on Bowen Road – first and Hannah Perry – second.
u Speech award: Cher Rowe – first, Kendall Andjelkovic, Miss Woodgrove Centre – second and Elise Boulanger, Miss Concept Photography – third.
u Talent award: Celeste Mattes, Miss Nanaimo North Town Centre – first, Elise Boulanger – second and Kendall Andjelkovic – third.
u Community spirit award: Kendall Andjelkovic.
