Nanaimo-area businesses in hunt for awards
Nanaimo area businesses received their fair share of kudos with the release of the Mid Island Science, Technology and Innovation Council award finalists.
Ace Line Hauler; Stellar Marine; Kintama Research Corporation; iDUS Controls Ltd.; Pipe Eye Video Inspections and Services; Esilanna Marine Ltd.; Raymac Environmental; Hub City Paving Ltd.; William Huhn Trigger Point Technique; Workforce Integrity Network; Canadian Pacific Algae Inc.; Jane Strap; BD Mitchell Prosthetic and Orthotics; Evening Cove Oysters; Intraworks IT Management; GIS Solutions Inc.; Real Estate Webmasters; HarbourLiving.ca; Locos Studio; Docupointe Digital Documents; and K2 Stone, and Lantzville business Byres Security are among the nominated businesses for the fourth annual awards.
Winners will be announced Thursday (Nov. 5) at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
The awards were created in 2006 to highlight and recognize the many knowledge-based businesses located in mid and north Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
MISTIC received 84 nominations for 74 businesses within the region from Malahat north.
“The firms and individuals have demonstrated passion, commitment, sound business practices and innovative thinking,” said Carolyn Tatton, MISTIC executive director.
“The science, technology and innovative based sectors are continually growing and have established their mark as a major economic contributor.”
MISTIC provides support to innovators, business owners and entrepreneurs in knowledge-based industries. It is one of nine innovation councils in the province.
