UPDATE: Sewage leak closes Departure Bay Beach

Departure Bay Beach remains closed to swimmers after sewage overflowed into the waters Wednesday.

Sean Depol, Regional District of Nanaimo manager of waste water services, said crews were doing preventative maintenance testing on the Departure Bay Pump Station Wednesday when they noticed the leak at a manhole.
