It took them awhile to get into high gear, but the Lake Cowichan Atom C Lakers made no mistake about which was the better game Saturday against Juan de Fuca.

The Lakers never trailed in the game, but the high flying squad had all it could handle for well into the second period before breaking loose at the 7:04 mark with three straight goals.

Parker Bergstrom led the team offensively with five goals as the Lakers doubled their opponent 10-5.

Nelson Wagner also had a big game, with three goals and two assists. Nick Brown got the other two goals and added an assist, while Emily Vaughan and Evan Rowbottom had a helper each.

At the other end, goalie Trenton Baslee made the big saves when the team needed them. He was especially strong in the third period, with some strong help from his defence.

The Atom C Lakers are back in action at home on Saturday, when they play Cowichan Valley #1 starting at 11 a.m.
