Learning the Game
Learning the Game Shelly Scott, above, of the Lake Cowichan Secondary School midget girls’ volleyball team bumps a serve delivered by Queen Margaret’s during a match in Lake Cowichan last Wednesday. At left, Shawna Deroy of the Lakers was one of the few players on either side who served overhead. She had mixed success, but when she got the ball over the net she had great success. The Lakers, with most of the lineup new to volleyball and learning the game, held their own despite losing their three games. They lost the first game 25-11, then improved with a pair of 25-22 losses.
