It had to happen eventully.
It took 14 games, but the Kerry Park Islanders, with two Cowichan Lake area players in the lineup, lost their first game of the season, a 3-2 decision to the Victoria Cougars at the Kerry Park arena on Saturday night.
Despite the loss the Islanders are comfortably ahead in the north division standings with 26 points. Oceanside is second with 11 points.
In the south division, Victoria leads the pack with 27 points in 16 games.
Islanders veteran Max McCloy, 20, of Lake Cowichan has been a steady performer in 14 games, scoring seven times and adding two assists for nine points.
At the blue line, rookie 17-year-old Angus Somerville of Youbou hasn’t played as many games. He has a goal and two assists in nine games.
The Islanders hit the ice again at home Thursday against Oceanside.
