Ladies play through good, bad golf weather
Published: July 07, 2008 9:00 PMOn May 29 the March Meadows ladies played a Pin Round. Sam Jones was low gross winner, followed by Phyllis Logan. Low nets were shot by Christine McGovern, Margaret Lavigne, Emily Quarmby, Di Gunderson, Lorraine Oliver and Lynn Girard.
Lynn Girard shot a birdie on the 16th hole.
Carding chip-ins were Marion Price, Sam Jones and Christine McGovern. Lorraine Oliver was closest to the pin.
June 12 was the qualifying round for the Zone Two Ball, Pin and Spoon, the first round of the Putting Cup Challenge, Beat the Champ, the Dorothy Franklin competition and the start of the Summer Eclectic.
Shooting low gross was Lynn Demings, followed closely by Sylvia Lingren. Low net winners were Yvonne Leach, Emily Quarmby, Mary Ann Bennett, Judy Merrett, Norma O’Connell, Anne Wise and Carol Peterson. Carol shot a chip-in birdie on #1. Yvonne Leach had a chip-in on #4. Christine McGovern was the KP winner. Carol and Sylvia qualified for the Zone Two Ball.
On June 19 the ladies played the second round of the Putting Cup Competition and Par Day. Low gross winner was Anne Wise and runner-up was Sylvia Lingren. The Par Day winner, with a plus 4, was Anne Wise.
Low net winners were Lynn Girard, Emily Quarmby, Phyllis Logan, Christine McGovern, Yvonne Leach and Sharron Carpentier. Lorraine Oliver, Norma O’Connell and Sharron Carpentier all had chip-ins.
On July 2 the ladies played an unscheduled event, a best nine hole novelty. The winners were Judy Merrett, Lorraine Lawrence, Jan Peden, Yvonne Leach, Emily Quarmby and Pam Palliser. Marion Price had a chip-in birdie on #16.
The KP winner was Lorraine Lawrence. The weather was very humid and hot.
