With the rush on to the flu clinics, please show patience

With the sudden rush to get swine flu vaccinations across the country, it’s no surprise that things got overwhelming in Lake Cowichan last week.

The first clinic on October 26 was held at the Kaatza Health Unit and started out surprisingly slow, but with the news of some young Canadians dying of swine flu, the floodgates opened on at Wednesday’s clinic and the lineups formed all too quickly.

For many people, the wait was too long and they left.

To its credit, the Kaatza Health Unit acted quickly and shifted the clinics to the lower Centennial Hall, where they will be held once a week until the end of November.

He all provides more room and more people can be vaccinated, so things should go more smoothly.

We should all remember that patience through all this will be one of the keys to the success of the clinics.
