Two Fuller Lake Skating Club members face competition from across British Columbia at an event this month.

Riley Buckner and Sarah Kedves both plan to perform at the 2010 BMO Skate Canada Sectionals in Richmond, Nov. 11-15.

Coach Shannon Knott said the competition provides the two figure skaters with an opportunity to measure themselves against others from throughout the province.

Knott said Buckner and Kedves, both competing at the pre-juvenile level, are working hard this season on their double jumps. The coach said this requires hours of practice.

They head to the sectionals after success at the Vancouver Island regional competition held in Nanaimo Oct. 23-25. In final results, Buckner placed sixth and Kedves placed eighth among pre-juvenile women.

Four other Fuller Lake figure skaters competed at the regionals: Marina Ellison placed sixth among juvenile women, Heather Robertson placed first among junior bronze women 13 and older, Taylor Trudgeon placed fourth among preliminary women 10 and younger, and Brianna Neva placed third among preliminary women 11 and older.

Members of the Fuller Lake Skating Club are also set to take part in the Jingle Blades Competition Nov. 27-29 in White Rock at the South Surrey Arena.
