The Joseph Mairs Memorial Committee and the Community Alliance for Public Education are delighted to be hosting the Cowichan location for the Canadian Labour International Film Festival(CLiFF) on Sunday November 29th, 1pm until 9pm at Vimy Community Hall 3968 Gibbins Road Duncan BC. Admission is free.

This year marks the birth of this Canada-wide film festival dedicated to working people, their unions and their communities. Featuring films from around the world and right here at home, this event begins to redress the balance between corporate entertainment and the true culture of all who work everyday to provide for our families and build our communities.

Our programme includes short subjects and feature films:

From the Edge of the Blade - Workers’ rebellion in Mexico

Wal-Mart Nation - The world movement to roll back Wal-Mart

Poor No More - Mary Walsh looks for solutions in Ireland and Sweden

The Philosopher Kings - Janitors at major US Universities speak out

Dear John - Welland Ontario resists plant closures

Seeds of Peace - Palestinian Workers struggle for equal treatment

Six Weeks of Solidarity - The Winnipeg General Strike 70 years later

12,000 Men - The struggle of Cape Breton coal miners
