The competition season started in fine fashion for valley figure skaters during the Vancouver Island regionals in Nanaimo.
Duncan Skating Club results included a first for Baylee Hopwo in Pre-Preliminary Group 3.
Danielle Seeliger and Hannah Kushner also achieved the difficult task of cracking the top three. Seeliger was third in Junior Silver and Kushner third in Canskate Solo Group 6.
Ji-Won Kim just missed the top three, placing fourth in Elementary Group 6.
Spots in the top five were also attained by Kyra Gurski, fifth in Canskate Solo Group 7; Cassie Bowdery, fifth in Canskate Solo Group 8; and Lynnea VanDriel, fifth in Preliminary 11 and older Group 3.

Pre-Preliminary Group 5 - 7. Min Kim.
Preliminary 10 and younger - 10. Brianna Ellison.
Junior Bronze 12 and younger - 6. Jenna Ellison.
Junior Bronze 13 and older - 11. Kyla Kay, 12. Laura Kent.
Canskate Solo Group 6 - 6. Caiden Varasteh.
Canskate Solo Group 8 - 6. Paula Bell.
Heather Robertson of Fuller Lake won the Junior Bronze category for girls 13 and older. Brianna Neva placed third in Preliminary 11 and older Group 1 and Taylor Trudgeon secured fourth in Preliminary 10 and younger.

Juvenile girls - 6. Marina Ellison.
Pre-Juvenile girls - 6. Riley Buckner, 8. Sarah Kedves.
Kerry Park had several skaters make it into the top three of their respective classes, including: Jordan Barrett, Logan Deschenes, Lee Andrew, Hailey Deschenes, Rhys Anderson and Josiah Early.
Anderson and Early will be traveling to Richmond for the B.C. and Yukon Skate Canada section championships.
