Under 16 and 17 Silver girls’ squads buck the weekend trend with youth soccer wins
Cowichan Valley Soccer Association youth teams started the new policy of not shaking hands with opponents after games due to concerns about passing the H1N1 flu bug, but remain good sports through cheers or the exchange of pleasantries instead.
It was otherwise business as usual when the ball was in play.
Cowichan teams had a bit of a rough weekend, winning just two of eight home games among the traveling teams. The Under 16 Silver girls were successful by a 1-0 count over Bays United and Cowichan’s U17 Silver girls knocked off Prospect Lake 5-0.
The only other team to earn a point at home was the Cowichan U13 Silver girls, who tied Bays United 1-1.
Cowichan’s Under 13 Bronze girls lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Bays United, Gorge defeated Cowichan 5-2 in U14 Gold boys, Gorge nipped Cowichan 2-1 in U15 Silver, Lakehill doubled Cowichan 2-1 in U16 Silver boys and Cowichan took it on the chin from Bays United in U17 Gold boys 6-1.
