Six a lucky number for Jake’s offense
Asix-run attack and a near-flawless defence is doing the trick for Just Jake’s in the Nanaimo Senior Men’s Fastball League playoffs.
Jake’s rolled to three straight wins, all with a six-run output while posting two shutouts behind the brilliant pitching of Brooks Robinson.
Third-place Jake’s started the double knockout with a 6-0 whitewashing of sixth-place Baker’s Supply of Nanaimo.
Robinson tossed a one-hitter and struck out 11 while his teammates supported him with seven hits and took advantage of three Baker’s Supply errors.
Ryan Kline and Trevor Gicas were both two-for-three, with Gicas scoring a pair of runs.
Josh Dares made a triple count for three RBIs in the second inning to kick-start the offense. Brad Robinson and Tanner McQuarrie managed a hit and an RBI each, with Robinson scoring twice.
Wheat Sheaf took a 2-0 lead on Jake’s last Tuesday, but it didn’t last. Two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth gave Jake’s a 6-2 victory.
Joey Massingham, Jackson Wilson and Gicas led the way with two hits and one run apiece. Wilson also connected for an RBI.
Dennis Ewart and Brad Robinson put hits on the board, with an RBI each. Ewart also scored twice and Scott Robinson helped the cause with a hit.
Brooks Robinson tossed another one-hit shutout in a 6-0 triumph over Courtenay.
Massingham and Dares each had two hits, with three runs between them. Dares added an RBI.
