The B.C. Bike Race that started at Shawnigan Lake School ended seven long days later at Whistler Friday.
The second year for the mountain bike stage race attracted more than 400 riders from around the world, according to Shawn LeClair, the community relations person for the B.C. Bike Race.
After leaving Shawnigan last Saturday, the riders covered 108 kilometres of terrain in the Burnt Bridge, Kinsol Trestle and Trans-Canada Trail regions before winding up at Lake Cowichan for the night.
Other stops on the route included: Cumberland (June 30), Sechelt (July 1) and Squamish (July 2 and 3).
The race was a huge undertaking, but organizers made sure everything ran smoothly with incredible attention to detail.
A total of 200 tents were set up and taken down at each stage for base camp. A crew of 40 and 60 volunteers supported the racers daily.
Interestingly, 83 per cent of the participants were men.
