Dear editor

The Remembrance Day Ceremony in Duncan was beautiful and well-attended. I have a question regarding a photo of Princess Diana that had been placed on the cenotaph. Was her photo appropriate? For me, Diana's photo was out of place. Remembrance Day was for men and women who died in service to their country at times of war. Remembrance of Diana and her humanitarian work is good, but remember too hers was a life of privilege and ceremony. She did not die on a battlefield surrounded by horror. She was leaving the Ritz Hotel in Paris, in a limousine, after returning from her stay on a yacht.

Today was not her time or place. I regret not taking the initiative to remove her photo until after the service was over.
