Scholarships also due struggling kids facing poverty, writer says
Money better spent on kids who need it most
Dear editor,
I find it very awkward to read this community will give $200,000 scholarships to preppy kids that get straight A's, but won’t bother to help the youth in poverty. No scholarships to the struggling youth who are trying to do good? It’s just like favoring one kid over another. It’s wrong.
I mean, even a $1,000 scholarship gives that youth — lost in poverty and trying to make it — something to look up to.
