If you are living in a $300,000 home in South Cowichan can you and your family afford to spend an extra $207 a year?

If you are living in a $500,000 home, can you afford $345?

If you can, do you want to spend that money on revitalizing and expanding your community centre?

That, essentially, is the crux of the question being put to residents of Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake and Cobble Hill tomorrow.

Residents are being asked if they want to spend up to $69 per $100,000 assessed value on a $25 million upgrade of the Kerry Park Rec Centre.

According to the CVRD, $5.9 million of that is to address structural and mechanical defects with the existing building, $10.7 million is for an aquatics addition including a six-lane pool, leisure pool and more, and the remainder is for a variety of other improvements, including a new fitness centre and the expansion of meeting room, programming and changeroom facilities.

Eligible voters can vote Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Frances Kelsey Secondary School (for Mill Bay), Elsie Miles Elementary School (for Shawnigan Lake), and the Cobble Hill Hall.
