Dead Eyes Open get record deal from Down Under

Metal rockers Dead Eyes Open are getting a musical transfusion from Down Under.
Front man Matt Gladman said the Duncan-based quintet signed a deal last week with Australian record label Dead Famous Artists.
“We just got all the stuff back from the lawyer and an A&R (artists representatives) agent.
“We’re getting a deal to record digitally and get our CD in stores and online,” songwriter–guitarist Gladman said of DEO’s debut disc Apocalypse Through The Eyes Of.
The 11-song platter is headed for a fall release after a year in the recoding stages in Gladman’s basement.
“We’ll likely tour with the label and some of its other bands, probably overseas.”
That tour would follow DEO’s 15-date western tour launching Tuesday with Messiahs In Fiction.
“We’re surprised by the deal but I’ve been working on this CD since last June and we’ve still got lots of work ahead of us.”
Album art is being done by Kelowna’s Kevin Moore.
Other members of DEO include drummer Chris Anderson, axman Stefan Renaud, bassist Tyler Hiltunen, and singer Justin Hudda who recently replaced former vocalist Cody Erikson.
Gladman, 21, said though DEO’s not getting money upfront from Dead Famous Artists “we get 60 per cent of everything sold with our name on it.”
“This is a first contract to get your CD out there and see how people take to it.”
Dead Eyes Open plays its July 4 Eagles show with bands Messiahs In Fiction, Mother Died Today, and Fall In Archaea.
