The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have chosen their top dog for the season.
According to a club press release, forward Sam Mitchell has been named the team's Captain for this season.
Mitchell, 19, is playing in his second season in Alberni. He played 42 games last season with the Bulldogs, scoring three goals and adding six assists to go along with 38 penalty minutes.
Mitchell’s leadership on and off the ice factored into the decision. "His work ethic, determination and competitive attitude is infectious with his teammates," head coach and general manager Nolan Graham said. ”I believe Sam has the values, beliefs, and the attitude to be a solid leader.”
The Bulldogs are coming off a pair of home ice wins over Cowichan Valley and Victoria and currently sit tied for fourth in the BCHL's Coastal Conference with four points.
