BC Hydro plans water release at Elsie Dam
Updated: August 26, 2009 10:39 AM
To help encourage fish migration and spawning in the Ash River, BC Hydro will be increasing the water release from the Elsie Dam.
This will allow fish to move above river obstacles that may be a barrier at the river base flow.
The increase in water flow will take place Saturday, Aug. 29, and is timed to take place during a forecasted unsettled weather period with the corresponding barometric changes as added triggers for the fish to move upstream.
The higher flow will be in place through the morning of Aug. 31, after which ramp down will occur.
