United beats Bayside late in Premier women's rugby

April Jones scored the deciding try with less than a minute to play as Coquitlam-based United Rugby Football Club out-lasted Bayside 15-10 in a Premier women’s match Saturday at Queen’s Park.
Stevi Prosser set up Jones’s winning score and also had a try of her own, which knotted the score 10-10.
Jacqui Stewart scored United’s other try on a 20-metre gallop in the game’s opening minute.
The teams were tied 5-5 at halftime before Bayside took a 10-5 advantage early in the second half, setting the stage for the United comeback,
In women’s Div. 2 action, Mikki Vanzulylekom raced for two first-half tries to spark Unite to a 52-10 romp over Ridge Meadows.
Kari Copeland and Tennille Morrison also scored key tries for United.
In a women’s U-18 game, United was a tough 10-5 loser to host Cowichan.
In men’s action, United squads hand their hands full with Seattle. The Div. 1 United squad was squashed 54-0 by the Washington unit, while the Div. 2 team was thumped 52-31.
In men’s U-19 play, United were 14-5 victims to Surrey.
