PoCo Ravens captured the silver medal at the B.C. Squirt ‘B’ (11-12) girls provincial softball championships last weekend in Prince George.
The Ravens’ only two losses at the event were to Abbotsford, who beat PoCo 8-3 in the semifinals and, again, 9-2 in the final.
The Ravens earlier defeated Surrey’s Fleetwood 6-4, South Delta 9-1, Guildford 7-0 and Vancouver 5-4. They then handled Vancouver again 6-2 in the playoffs to advance to the championship.
The Ravens had an oustanding season, finishing first in league play with a 22-0-1 record, and racked up a 46-4-2 mark overall, including tournaments.
Players on the Ravens included Nicole Anderson, Bailey Bridge, Kaila Butler, Kirstynn DeCicco, Natalie LeClerc, Lizzie Madden, Amanda Matsui, Hannah Menard, Hayley Menard, Serena Ono and Paige Taylor, all from PoCo; along with Brea Ebeling of Coquitlam and Port Moody’s Lauren Watson. The PoCo team’s head coach was Chuck Mayne, who was assisted by Doneau Menard and Domenic DeCicco.
