Lee swings through weather, golf field
Published: October 07, 2008 6:00 PMStormy weather Saturday plagued the second stop on the B.C. Maple Leaf Junior Golf Fall Series but it didn’t seem to bother Port Coquitlam’s John Lee at Vancouver’s Fraserview club.
Lee, 17, shot a sizzling even-par 56 before the match was called after 14 holes, allowing him to win the boys 17-and-up division for the second straight tournament by beating Surrey’s T.J. McColl by one stroke.
“I feel great,” Lee said. “I’m thinking about winning next week and they I’ll have won all three MJT fall series [events].”
Coquitlam’s Oscar Baek tied for fourth in the boys 13-and-under division, while Port Moody’s Valentina Trillo took fourth in the girls open category.
