Library loves Friends, indeed

The Editor,

Oct. 18 to 24 is National Friends of Libraries week, making it a good time to publicly thank the Friends of the Coquitlam Public Library, which contributes so much of its time and expertise to significantly enhancing our services.

Our Friends group began in 2002 and over the course of the past seven years, it has raised more than $78,000. It has helped in refurbishing the library, assisted with the cost of programming for children and young adults, founded the first Books for Babies program, and is currently helping with literacy programs for new immigrants in Coquitlam.

I know Coquitlam Public Library is a source of pride for our community. Our Friends group is a source of pride as well.

Our Friends are always looking for new members. Call the library at 604-937-4130 to find out how you can join and support this outstanding group.

Rhian Piprell, Library Director, Coquitlam Public Library
