City should invest in snow sidewalk cleaners

The Editor,
Re: City snow removal from sidewalks
Years ago we used to live in Whitby, Ontario where they had small, sidewalk-sized snow plows to clear sidewalks after snowfalls. These were a godsend for seniors and mothers with strollers and small children so that they were able to get out to local stores and schools.
Older people aren't going to be able to clear those walks so introducing bylaws to make everyone clear them isn't going to get the results needed. But introducing a law to make sure businesses clear their accesses and lots would be a big help to everyone. It seems sometimes they haven't got the common sense to make the connection between increased business and cleared access to it.
I think the city should invest in some of those small tractors that zip up and down city sidewalks here too. Also there are not enough sidewalks in Port Coquitlam. The city, if it want's to encourage people to walk, should really put in more of them.
