LETTER: Thanks for the Spike memories
Updated: July 09, 2009 3:05 PM
Thanks to all the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers for their hard work on the 2009 Golden Spike Days festival in Port Moody. (Thanks also to all who have contributed to past Golden Spike festivals.)
Clearly, the staging of Golden Spike Days has had additional challenges recently, such as less sponsor money available this year.
Other factors likely include traffic problems, particularly with the Moody Overpass down to one lane and traffic moving in one direction only, less venue space available, and less public awareness of the event (but thank you to our community newspapers).
Overall, a daunting task!
Although smaller in scale than some years, I and my family applaud what you managed to accomplish under difficult circumstances.
Thank you! Golden Spike Days is an annual Port Moody tradition, appreciated by many. It would be wonderful to see a return of the fireworks in future.
