A Coquitlam couple are hoping two people who stole their eight-month-old chihuahua from out front of their home in broad daylight will do the right thing and return the animal.

Josh Pugh, 29, said his dog Milo was running around in the yard this morning (Monday) when two people in a 1980s green Ford Tempo or Taurus-type vehicle stopped in front of the Heritage Mountain home.

A women jumped out of the passenger side and grabbed the dog, got back in the car as a man behind the wheel sped away.

"When I saw the people I knew right away they were up to something," a distraught Pugh told the Tri-City News. "I saw her get out but I didn't know what they were doing. I didn't think they would steal my dog."

Pugh said both of the people in the vehicle looked to be in their 30s. The women had brown hair while the man behind the wheel wore a baseball cap.

"They were really rough looking," he said.

The police have been contacted and are searching for the vehicle. Pugh said he has also been driving around the neighbourhood to see if he could spot the pair or their vehicle.

Milo is about six-pounds with beige colouring and a white chest. He has one floppy ear and has not been neutered.

Anyone with any information can contact Push at 778-549-0266 or 778-990-2367. A reward will be given for the safe return of the animal.
