The city of Port Coquitlam is seeking the public's input in establishing its guidelines for its 2010-'14 financial plan.

An input session will be held on July 16 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at PoCo city hall (2580 Shaughnessy St.) in what the city is calling the first step in setting next year's property tax rate.

Mayor Greg Moore said the city is looking at different ways of mitigating the impacts of the economic downturn on taxpayers and that it is important the public's "voices are heard."

The city said this will be the first of several public input sessions and it will also look at online surveys, discussion boards and blogs as ways of engaging the public.
