Suspected drug lab shut down

One person was arrested Sunday afternoon during a police raid of an alleged drug lab at a house in the 2900-block of Julian Avenue in Coquitlam.

Members of the Coquitlam RCMP’s drug section continued yesterday (Tuesday) to execute the search warrant and Cpl. Tony Farahbakhchian said police are “confident that this investigation will be fruitful.”

Coquitlam Fire and Rescue, paramedics and RCMP clandestine lab section members attended and blocked off both ends of the street, off Walton Avenue, but residents were not evacuated.

No details were available regarding why a search warrant was requested for the home and charges had not yet been forwarded yesterday to Crown counsel related to the person arrested.

Information was also not available on what was found inside the house.

“We don’t know what type of drug it is,” Farahbakhchian said. “All of these items have to be sent to the lab for examination.”
