It's only a matter of time — just days, really — before the storefront ghouls and goblins are replaced by all things Christmas.
But before you brave the crowded shopping malls, consider an alternative way to shop at a craft fair open house this weekend. The Nov. 1 event will feature nine Tri-City women who will be showcasing their crafts, ranging from greeting cards to baby food.
Ripe Baby Food creator Angela Salehi said the women came together mainly through word-of-mouth and at local "mommy groups, and from there it just kind-of flourished."
Some of the crafters include the Port Moody mom behind Sophiebelle, a line of plush, organic kids' toys and clothing, artful greeting cards and paper goods by Adore By Nat and PoMo Mama Design, the creator of Ebb and Flo wire and fibre jewelry.
Admission to the craft fair is with a donation to the Share food bank and, once inside, visitors can enjoy refreshments, music and a relaxed shopping atmosphere.
• The first annual Craft Fair Open House is on Sunday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2620 St. George St., Port Moody. For more info visit pomomama.googlepages.com/portmoodycraftfair.
