Place des Arts' teachers and staff are showcasing their talents in the centre's annual Art Feats exhibition, running until Oct. 10.

This year more than 20 faculty and staff have submitted work in a variety of media, with many coming from teachers who work in disciplines other than visual art. Featured in the exhibit are works in ceramics, basketry, quilting, drawing and painting, digital composition and woven-wire jewelry.

In addition to Art Feats, Place des Arts is showing the work of Bulgarian-born artist Zhana Nedelcheva in the Atrium Gallery in her "Impressions from the East" exhibit.

These "monumental" ceramics and sculptures are particularly influenced by shape, a style that is unique from much of North American ceramic work.

Nedelcheva creates large-scale three-dimensional stoneware, meant for the exterior of buildings, as well as "ethereal" tiles and small, intimate sculptures for interior spaces. The pieces incorporate geometrical architectural design but the artist notes that, "The things that inspire me are important to people all over the world, things like love, maternity and nature."
