Twenty performers will be vying for the title of Port Moody Idol during the 33rd annual Golden Spike Days Festival this weekend.

The contest mirroring the popular T.V. show "American Idol" will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. with the finals happening the next day, also at 3 p.m. at Rocky Point Park.

This year's junior participants are Ben Comin, Beth Murtagh, Sean Mathieson, Natasha Kozak, Alexandria Shankland, Sarah Marie Smith, Jeff Huggins, Vanessa Hillman, Nadia Bordignon and Jessica Zraly.

And in the senior category are Sabrina Robson, Tessa Trach, Jeffrey Aitchison, Ross Hazlehurst, Roger Schmidt, Steve Mathieson, Billy Gollner, Frankie Cena, Tatiana Banden and Brett Trach.

Cash prizes will be given to the first, second and third place winners, with studio time presented to the champion in each section.

The 2008 junior winners were Tatiana Banden, Tessa Trach and Daniela Bobadilla while the senior winners were Iris Patricia Del Castillo, Sabrina Robson and Danielle Foulds.

Meanwhile, entertainers will be on the Golden Spike stage — rotating at least every hour — on July 3, 4 and 5 (admission to the grounds is $2, with no charge for children under three years old).
