This weekend offers plenty of football, food and even fine wines, not to mention a craft fair worthy of your holiday shopping list, so what's to keep you at home?

FRIDAY, NOV. 6

FOOTBALL FRIDAY

It could be one for the history books when the top-ranked Centennial Centaurs meet arch-rivals — and defending B.C.-champions — the Terry Fox Ravens on the field at Percy Perry Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. The Centaurs are unbeaten at 4-0 in eastern conference play this season while the Ravens are 3-1 going into the key clash.

SERGE SERVE

Coquitlam RCMP are hosting the 10th annual Red Serge Classic senior girls' volleyball tournament this weekend, bringing together 10 of the province's top volleyball teams. Catch the opening ceremonies tonight, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Riverside secondary, featuring cheer 'n' dance and speed spike competitions and a girls vs. RCMP rivalry. Games start at 3:45 p.m. Friday and continue Saturday; the final is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. tomorrow.

THE THING

Arts Club on Tour presents The Thing About Men, a comical look at modern relationships, until Nov. 7. The production stars Stephen Aberle, Annabel Kershaw, Jonathan Holmes, Mike Kovac and Erin Palm, as well as live musicians. Shows are at 8 p.m., with a 4 p.m. matinee Saturday, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre. Tickets are $32/$27, available at www.evergreenculturalcentre.ca or 604-927-6555.

SWEET SIPPING

Join John Gerum of West Coast Wine Education and the Port Moody Arts Centre at the Fall Festival: The Best of BC Wines Uncorked. Sip B.C. wines from top-rated vineyards, including Cedar Creek, Church & State, Stag's Hollow and many more. The tasting runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $40, available at the PoMo Arts Centre and at 604-931-2008.

CRAFT FAIR

Check out crafters old and new at the Terry Fox secondary Craft Fair today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is by donation and there will be crafts (think unique Christmas gifts), a concession and bake sale. Proceeds support after-grad festivities.

SAY SPÄETZLE

The Knights of Columbus host an Oktemberfest celebration at Our Lady of Fatima Church hall (315 Walker St., Coquitlam) with a buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m., where guests can dine on ham, sausage, sauerkraut, spätzle, strudel and more. Dancing and entertainment get underway at 8:30 p.m.; Al Pichler and The Alpiners play two shows with the AVC Edelweiss Dancers (Schuhplattlers). WINTER VEG

Yes, it's true, local food is available all year long. The Coquitlam Farmers Market group brings you the Winter Market starting today (Sunday), and every other Sunday until the end of April, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Port Moody recreation centre.
