Port Moody library to give kids medals for a summer of reading

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Port Moody Public Library will be celebrating the accomplishments of all the kids who read for 50 days throughout the summer.

This special ceremony will recognize and congratulate those children who joined the 2009 “Follow the Reader” Summer Reading Club.

The medal ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m. and will include refreshments, face painting, activities with Port Moody recreation staff and a visit with the Vancouver Gizeh Shrine Clown Unit. Medals and completion certificates will be presented in the Inlet Theatre. Children can pick up their timed tickets at the library.

The summer reading club was presented with the support of the BC Library Association with assistance from the Public Library Services Branch, Ministry of Education, and the medals are courtesy of the Royal Bank Financial Group.

Port Moody Public Library is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
