Kids, dance or how ’bout try paintball?

Port Moody is hosting a pair of events for young people this month:

• The youth dance is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. on Fridit’say, Oct. 17 at the PoMo rec complex, 300 Ioco Rd. The dance, for middle school-age kids, will feature music from DJ, dance competitions, prizes, glow stuff and a concession. PoMo youth dances usually sell out well in advance so organizers suggest buying your ticket soon to guarantee your spot. Tickets cost $7 in advance and can be bought at the PoMo rec centre or Kyle Centre, or by phone at 604-469-4556.  Deadline to pre-purchase tickets is Oct. 17 at noon, if tickets are still available.  Tickets will also be sold at the door for $10, only if space permits. Go-cards are mandatory for proof of age and a dress code will be enforced. The dance will be supervised by city staff.

• The next pro D day in School District 43 is Oct. 24 and PoMo rec staff are hosting a paintball outing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for people 11 to 16 years of age. Participants will meet at Westhill Youth Centre (203 Westhill Pl.). Cost is $45 per person and includes bus transportation to Ambush Paintball as well as admission, paintball gun rental, helmet and 100 balls. Participants should bring a bag lunch and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. You must register in advance by phoning 604-469-4556 or visiting www.cityofportmoody.com/signmeup.
