From Nov. 1 until Christmas IKEA will donate a dollar for every soft toy sold in its Coquitlam store and the company's 10 other locations across the country to UNICEF Canada and Save the Children.
The annual $1 is a Fortune campaign helps fund educational projects in more than 30 countries. Last year the store sold 140,000 soft toys.
"IKEA believes that children around the world should have a healthy and secure childhood, and the opportunity to receive a quality education," said Kerri Molinaro, president of IKEA Canada.
New to the campaign this year is Soft Toys Aid, which is an interactive component on the IKEA website which the company says is "a cuddlier version of the famed ’80s concert Live Aid" that allows online users to sing with the soft toys in an attempt to create the world's biggest choir.
