The Pitt Meadows Marauders Grade 8 football team bounced back from a 28-16 loss to the Hugh Boyd Trojans last week with a convincing 48-14 win over the Seaquam Seahawks on Tuesday.

Soupy field conditions and fading daylight forced the teams to play 10-minute quarters.

“A perfect day for football,” said Marauders coach Curt Gowler.

Jacob Gowler, Kurtis Blaine, Zach Buchanen, and Michael Brain all had major scores for the Marauders, while Gowler and Blaine each ran a two-point conversion.

On defense, Jacob Harinen had an interception, while lineman Cole White provided solid hits all day. Max Macievich, Ajay Gill, Sanj Toor, Manny Gill and Brody Glemnitz all helped keep the Seahawks offense at bay.

“This team showed a lot of heart, never giving up, trying their best right to the end,” said Gowler of his team.

The win puts the Marauders in a tie for second place in the Tier 2 West conference with a record of 2-1. Pitt faces the undefeated Handsworth Royals of North Vancouver next week.

“They’re a tough team for sure, but these guys are in the mindset of anytime, anywhere, bring it on,” said Gowler.
