Team B.C. brought home its first ever Eddie Hogan Cup Team Match title, and pair of local golfer are a large part of the reason why.
Kevin Kwon of Pitt Meadows and Charlie Hughes of Maple Ridge, along with teammates Bryan Lichimo and Matthew Hamilton, helped claim the top prize for Team B.C., the first ever in the tournament’s 40-year history.
Hughes and Kwon led the way for B.C., both shooting a one-under 143 during the two days of play. Hughes had the only eagle of the weekend for the team, getting home in three strokes on the 508-yard par-five 10th hole. Team B.C. edged Team Hawaii by a single stroke Sunday to take first-place at the elite junior tournament at the Riverside Golf and Country Club in Portland, Oregon.
Eddie Hogan Cup alumni include Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, and Bobby Clampett.
