The Ridge Meadows Royals peewee AA boys’ baseball team won silver at the 2009 B.C. Provincial Championships in Aldergrove Aug. 2, capping off a successful summer all-star baseball season.

The Royals, comprised of all first-year peewee players, entered the provincial tournament in the No. 2-seed, and faced a field made predominately of second-year peewee teams.

Ridge Meadows opened the tournament with a win over Prince George, before falling to Ladner in their second game. The Royals bounced back in their third game against hosts Aldergrove, but lost their final game of the round robin to Duncan.

Their 2-2 record earned the Royals a berth in the cross-overs where they face a powerhouse Rutland squad in the semi-finals. The Royals were up for the challenge and defeated Rutland 6-3 with a solid team effort. However, the Royals were unable to keep the momentum going into the tournament final, where they fell to South Burnaby.

Team members include Domenic Baptista, Kole Benard, Devon Bird, Matt Cameron, Zachery Comeault, Nick Evans, Brendan Halstrom, Ryley Leoppky, Clayton Lycan, Garett Maydaniuk, Kyle Ross and Clayton Skipper.
