Re: Allco Park reaches milestone (The News, Sept. 23).
Just a note to thank all the people involved in organizing and executing the B.C. Rivers Day event Sunday at Allco Park. What a fabulous day we had.
My children, aged six and four-and-a-half, had lots of fun visiting the various displays. Tops on their list: the clown with the balloons; paint a wooden fish; compost with worms; and the fur pelts and scat. They were also thrilled with the salmon life cycle poster and goodie bag.
The highlight of it all, though, was the fishing. How amazing to have all those volunteers help kids, including mine, who have never fished, catch their very own. Awesome (not to mention that it was also cleaned and bagged ready to easily take home.)
We had a great dinner and cooked the two fish in different ways, but all of us enjoyed the trout immensely.
It was incredibly satisfying, for the kids and adults, to be able to appreciate all our community has to offer. Thanks, and kudos to you all.
