Man punches out Tim Horton’s window

A man who broke a window at a Maple Ridge Tim Horton’s early Sunday faces a mischief charge.

The 24-year-old allegedly punched a glass window at the restaurant, on Dewdney Trunk Road at 230th Street, around 3 a.m. He was found by police a short distance away on Dewdney Trunk Rd.

The man had injured his hand and was taken to Ridge Meadows Hospital by paramedics. He has since been released by police but will have to appear in court to face a charge of mischief.

Truck torched on reserve

A stolen pickup truck was set alight early Sunday on Katzie First Nation land in Pitt Meadows.

Ridge Meadows RCMP and the fire department found the truck in the 19800 block of Wharf Street around midnight, totally engulfed in flames.

Insp. Derren Lench said the truck is a total loss.

The brown 2003 Ford F350 had been reported stolen to Mission RCMP earlier in the day.

Teen arrested by pub

A teenage boy was arrested early Sunday after police found him drunk behind a Maple Ridge pub.

Ridge Meadows RCMP found the boy around midnight after receiving a call about two suspicious youths near the Witch of Endor Pub at 22648 Dewdney Trunk Road.

Police caught up to the pair on 226th Street near 119th Avenue.

One of the teens, a 15-year-old from Vancouver, was intoxicated in violation of a probation order.

He was arrested and later released by a justice of peace. He will have to appear in youth court to face a charge of breaching probation at a later date.

Electronics stolen

A large quantity of electronics were stolen Saturday during a break-in at a Maple Ridge business.

Thieves cut a hole into a wall at Diamond Stereo to commit the burglary.

Police believe a large truck may have been used in the theft.

This vehicle may have pulled up to a service delivery door at the rear of the store, located in the 21600 block of the Lougheed Highway.

Drunk drivers targeted

Ridge Meadows RCMP took four drivers off the roads this past weekend for drunk driving.

Three were detained on Friday and one on Saturday.

All the drivers were found to have blood-alcohol levels that were at least twice the legal limit, while one driver refused to supply a breath sample.

Police said all the drivers will face impaired driving allegations in court. Ridge Meadows RCMP want to remind drivers not to consume alcohol before they drive.

Police will be increasing road checks as the holiday season approaches.

Perfume stolen

Police are looking for a man after several bottles of perfumes were stolen from a Maple Ridge drug store early Friday.

The theft took place around 8:30 a.m. at Shoppers Drug Mart – 22441 Dewdney Trunk Road. Police said the man managed to grab the perfumes before he walked out of the store. He is described as a man in his 50s with dark skin and a short stature. He was wearing a tan coloured jacket and black pants.

Witnesses believe the man got into a white car that was waiting in the parking lot.

Explosive found in woods

Police were called early Friday after an explosive device was found in east Maple Ridge.

The object was spotted by a resident around 11 a.m. in a wooded area off of 232nd Street. Police seized the article and the RCMP’s explosives unit was called to dispose the device.

Police remind residents to call 604-462-6251 if they find objects that are suspicious.

Trailer stolen

Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a trailer stolen last week from an alley in Maple Ridge.

The trailer, which had been modified to carry motor bikes, was taken from the 24300 block of 102B Avenue between Nov. 4 and Nov. 5. The trailer had British Columbia license plates ULL00J on it.
