Police believe alcohol played a role in a single car crash in Maple Ridge Wednesday evening.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on 128th Avenue, near Laity Street.

A Jeep was travelling west on 128th Ave. when the driver lost control and crashed into the ditch after crossing over the eastbound lane.

A 34-year-old woman driving the Jeep showed signs of being impaired by alcohol when police arrived.

After being cleared by the paramedics, she was taken to the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment, where samples of her breath were analyzed at four times the legal limit.

She was released to a friend, but will have to attend court at a later date to face impaired driving charges.

A pair of girls were arrested by RCMP Monday after discharging fire extinguishers in a Maple Ridge apartment building.

The 14-year-old girls sprayed the hallway of the apartment building, located in the 11700 block of 225th Street, around 10 p.m. and proceeded to target several cars outside.

Staff Sergeant Alex Bodden said the girls were located with the assistance of witnesses and taken to the RCMP detachment.

One of the girls damaged a fire alarm inside the detachment, so she was held for a youth court appearance on Tuesday.

The second girl was released to the custody of her guardian.

The woman was later released without charges, while the man was released with a court date on charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Two trucks were stolen from the same neighbourhood early Monday in Maple Ridge.

Police believe the pickup trucks were taken from the 11500 block of 224th Street between 5:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Police are looking for a grey 1992 Dodge with B.C. license plates 4606BR and a black 1993 Ford F150 with license plates 0050JX. Both vehicles were taken while the owners were at work for the day and remained missing as of Thursday.
