The family of a Maple Ridge man murdered earlier this year is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his killer.

A boater discovered the remains of 25-year-old Joshua Douglas Hedrick in August near Douglas Island in Port Coquitlam.

Hedrick had been reported missing to Ridge Meadows RCMP by family members nine months earlier.

He was last seen at his mother’s home in Maple Ridge on Jan. 11.

Police won’t say how Hedrick died, but are investigating his death as a homicide.

His father Gord Hedrick and family members launched a campaign to lure in possible witnesses on Wednesday – Remembrance Day.

The $6,660 reward will expire on Christmas Eve.

There’s a time limit on it so to “flush the greedy boys out,” said Hedrick.

The family is going to target high traffic areas like the Pitt River Bridge and Lougheed Highway with the eye-catching signs.

“Did he see something? Did he hear something? Was he involved with something? I don’t know,” said Hedrick.

“All I know is someone took him away from us.”

Joshua Hedrick was known to police in the Lower Mainland and Prince George before he disappeared.

Police allege he was once a member of The Crew, a street gang in Prince George that worked for a Hells Angels puppet club in the city.

Hedrick said his son was a big guy who would have put up a fight.

“The person had to be his friend. He had to trust him to go with him.”

Hedrick has already received phones from people willing to help hold up signs around Maple Ridge.

He isn’t going to stop searching for information that could help police locate his son’s killer.

“All I know is we’ll catch them sooner or later. It doesn’t matter how long it takes. As long as there’s a breath in my body I’ll continue,” Hedrick said.
