A woman accused of killing her husband following a domestic dispute in Maple Ridge has been charged with murder.

Leah Marie Florence has been remanded in custody until Nov. 17 following a court appearance on the charge Thursday.

The 42-year-old woman was arrested at the her home on Ospring Street in lower Hammond Tuesday around 9:45 p.m. by police who were called to the property to deal with a couple fighting.

Officers found her husband Andrew Milne in medical distress when they arrived.

Paramedics took the 50-year-old to Ridge Meadows Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sgt. Peter Thiessen with the RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said police have evidence to support a charge of second-degree murder.

"We believe she was involved in to her husband death."

RCMP will not comment on the Milne's injuries or whether a weapon was or wasn't used.

A family member who lived above the couple made the initial call to police.

Thiessen said the man's wife also required medical attention for "significant injuries."

Court records show she has no criminal record while her husband has faced several charges since 2001.

Milne was placed under a peace bond in November 2001 but breached the court order several times in 2002 and 2003.

Such an order is issued under Section 810 of the Criminal Code of Canada if a person fears on reasonable grounds that another person will harm him, his spouse or his children, or that damage will be done to his property.

In 2004, Milne pleaded guilty controlling a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08.

He was fined $1200 and giving a one year criminal driving prohibition.
