Teen arrested for threats against mom, sisters

A 17-year-old male was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly threatened to harm his mother and two sisters.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to an apartment in downtown Maple Ridge just before noon. The teenager was arrested and remained in police custody over the weekend. He was scheduled to appear in youth court on Tuesday facing charges of uttering threats.

Stolen from store

A variety of items were stolen from the Maple Ridge Sears store on Monday morning.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the business, located in the 20400 block of Lougheed Highway, at about 7 a.m. by a property representative who discovered the break-in.

Police said a rear door was pried open and numerous items were taken, including televisions, DVD players, vacuums and a computer,.

Man stabbed

An 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon in his Pitt Meadows home after another man was stabbed earlier in the day.

Police said a group of young people stopped by the suspect's home during the early morning hours and the two men got into an altercation which had to be broken up. The suspect then got a knife and allegedly stabbed the 19-year-old man, police said. He was taken to Ridge Meadows Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The 18-year-old man was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face charges of assault with a weapon.

Man arrested

A foot patrol in Maple Ridge on Monday led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man.

Police were walking in the area of 210 Street and 118 Avenue at about 9:30 p.m., when they came across of group of young people and detected an odour of marijuana. A small quantity of marijuana and what police believe to be cocaine were found on the man.

The RCMP later discovered he was violating two court-ordered conditions – not to leave his home between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and not to possess any illegal substance. The man was arrested and held in custody until his scheduled court appearance on Tuesday.
