A 32-year-old Montreal man was airlifted out of Golden Ears Park after getting lost while hiking.

He was on his way down the mountain from the top of the north ear on Aug. 21, when bad weather came in and caused him to lose visibility.

"He ended up in some very dangerous terrain," said Mike McKinley, the working search and rescue manager.

"He had heard our team shouting and he was 200 metres below in some cliff band. He basically popped out on the trail right in front of them."

Thirteen members from Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue were called in, along with members from Mission and Surrey. After more than 24 hours on the mountain in cold, wet conditions, a search team found him uninjured. He was airlifted off the mountain with the search team.

Meanwhile, two members of Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue found a 58-year-old fisherman who got lost on his way up to Munro Lake in Coquitlam. The man had been missing for 48 hours when they found him dehydrated, McKinley said.

"It was near dark and he got on the wrong trail and got himself into some ugly terrain. He had to be long-lined out."
