Maple Ridge fire department has lifted its ban on recreational campfires.

Fires are now allowed in open burning areas. However, the department asks residents to continue exercising caution when handling smoking materials and open flame. Fires can be easily sparked in forested areas, greenbelts and roadside boulevards in dry conditions. Hot temperatures are forecasted for early next week, which will increase the risk of fire.
