New Fraser Arthritis Centre opens across the river in Langley

The Arthritis Society of Canada’s new Fraser Arthritis Centre in Langley opens next month. The new facility will be the home to the Arthritis Society’s B.C. and Yukon Division, and will house rheumatologists, physicians, and other arthritis specialists, who will see patients referred by their doctors from across the Fraser Valley, including Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The original Fraser Arthritis Centre opened its doors in 2004 to provide closer-to-home access to treatment, care and education for the 250,000 Fraser Valley residents living with arthritis. The new centre is located at 101 – 5501 204th Street, about six blocks from its old location.

The new Fraser Arthritis Centre continues the work of the Arthritis Society’s founder, Mary Pack. A Langley teacher, Mary Pack, founded the Arthritis Society, originally known as the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, 61 years ago. Her vision of a world without arthritis continues to drive the Society as it provides education and services to the over 600,000 people in B.C. and Yukon living with arthritis.

The official opening ceremonies at the Fraser Arthritis Centre take place Dec. 5 with a ribbon-cutting followed by the inaugural Langley Jingle Bell Walk and Run for Arthritis. The one-kilometre fundraising event supports the services of the new Fraser Arthritis Centre. To register for the Langley Jingle Bell Walk and Run, visit www.jbwr.ca
