Acts of Faith: Answers to life’s challenges

How will I make it through the week, or even today?

Many will enjoy today while others will strain under the pressures of life. Next month they may be OK, but it could be our turn.

Who can we trust, who really understands, who really knows what is best or right?

We can be very resourceful at times, but for many we struggle on.

Jesus, while on Earth, brought real solutions to real life situations. To the crowds who came to Him, He provided understanding, wisdom, guidance, hope, comfort, healing, and victory.

Many occasions we read that as the crowds came to Him, He was moved with compassion. Nothing is changed after 2,000 years. Jesus is still alive since His resurrection and He sees the struggles that you and I have to deal with or may have even brought upon ourselves.

For every social or personal struggle, Christ and the Word has an answer to our questions. If we are facing health loss, depression, stress, mental health issues, lost relationships, abuse, economic instability, alcohol or drug addictions, Jesus desires to provide a way out or through our challenges.

We may have questions about epidemics, war, natural disasters, famine or homelessness, to which Jesus has answers. The more I know of the Bible, the more it makes sense to life and all that it throws at us.

Our challenge is that with all that we know and the resources at our disposal much of what we deal with is not getting better, but at times even worse. In our wisdom as a society we have pushed God away to “do it my way.” We are more educated, have given more effort, time and money to fix societies ills, yet they continue to snowball. Increasingly our world seems to be more self-centered, everyone taking care of number one. This leaves more people feeling alone, doubting who they really can trust.

It’s evident we need something or someone more than ourselves. Some dismiss God, calling Him a crutch. If your leg is broken, a crutch or other support is what is needed.

Who do we have faith in with our broken experiences? Who will we trust with our life? Are they reliable, loving, proven, capable with power and wisdom?

Faith is only as valid as what it is placed in. If we trust our own ideas as theory, this is a leap into the dark. If by an act of faith we trust Jesus Christ, who showed us the love of God in real time while displaying His power to the masses, in His time and continuing through ours, we may find the source that once served our world effectively.

God does not want anyone to struggle through life alone. Jesus invites anyone to come to Him for rest.
